Designer Features Overview
The RPGsp designer
includes editing features that allow even novice HTML users to create sophisticated
Web pages. Editing features include:
- Text formatting.
Developers can set character formatting, including font style, face, size, and
color. Paragraphs can be justified and indented as needed.
- Editing.
The designer supports multi-level undo and redo commands. Developers can use
standard Cut, Copy, and Paste commands. Elements can be moved or resized by dragging.
The designer supports a number of keyboard accelerators or Hot
Keys.
- Drag-and-drop
capability. Developers can drag any object, text, or element anywhere on
the page.
- Absolute positioning.
Elements in the document can be absolutely positioned -- that is, you can use
cascading style sheet (CSS) style attributes to set their location on the page
with the equivalent of x and y coordinates. For more details, see Using
Absolute Positioning.
- Search.
The designer can display a Find dialog box to allow users to search for text.
- Hyperlinking.
Developers can define links and bookmarks in the text.
- Images.
Users can insert images into the document. Images can reside on the iSeries IFS,
on the local machine, or on other servers. Unlike generic HTML designers, RPGsp
is able display images stored directly on the iSeries in design view.
- Table support.
Developers can insert tables and can add and delete columns, rows, and cells.
- Context menus.
The designer provides context menus that developers can display by right-clicking
on the document or on specific elements. The context menu is customized based
on what the developer clicks on.
- RPG variables
support. The designer allows you to insert and modify RPG variables and expressions
directly in design view.
- Dynamic controls.
The designer is able to render HTML components that are loaded or built dynamically
by ILE RPG code.
- Properties Inspector.
Developers can modify HTML attributes of any selected element in the Properties
Inspector window.
