November 19, 2012 - Profound Logic has released a new case study with InVue Security Products (http://invuesecurity.com).
InVue Security Products is a leader in retail theft-prevention solutions. For almost 40 years, they've supported customers with cutting-edge security products. A secret to their success is their global network of sales representatives and partners.
To support this workforce and ensure their continued success, InVue invested in a Sales Information Systems application developed in-house that tracks sales goals and measures results. But the IBM i application had a major drawback: it was accessed through 5250 green screens that weren't intuitive to end users.
"New employees were overwhelmed learning how to access customer and account information in a green screen, and the process of re-training them on the applications was time-consuming for our IT department," explains InVue's director of IT, Michael Stewart.
As a result of this, the application suffered a lack of adoption by the sales force which could potentially impact the company's bottom-line. It also created headaches for InVue's IT team who supported and trained users on the application.
The InVue team decided that modernizing the Sales Information Systems application was the best way to improve the end user experience. But instead of simply "screen-scraping" (Web-enabling 5250 data) they agreed that the best route was to modernize with RPG Open Access. This would enable them to add dynamic Web 2.0 capabilities to their application, with the flexibility to customize the look and feel of the application. After researching their options, they agreed Profound UI from Profound Logic Software was the best choice.
See how InVue took on the challenge of outdated green screen applications on IBM i and secured application adoption by creating an intuitive, Web-browser based interface with Profound UI. Read the new case study.
