Server Configuration Utilities (When to use what)

 

Utility When to use it
Install and Test RPG Smart Pages
  • I installed RPGsp for the first time.  RPGsp server components have never been installed on my iSeries.
  • I created a new iSeries Profile.
  • I set up a test environment.
  • RPG Smart Pages are not working, and I would like to reinstall the server components.
Configure RPG/CGI Library
  • The RPGSPSP service program was updated in a new release of RPGsp.
  • The QCOMPILED or the RPGSPSP object is corrupted.
  • I changed the current RPG/CGI object library name. Now, I would like to create this RPG/CGI library and configure it manually.
Configuring Library List(s)
  • I installed the server components.  Now, I would like to specify the libraries that contain my database file.
  • I would like to change my library list.
  • I created a new iSeries profile or a new test environment.  Now, I would like to specify the library list for this profile.
Upload Theme Files
  • A new release of RPGsp contains new theme files.
  • The location of the IFS folder for the HTTP Root has changed.
Create HTTP Instance
  • I would like to recreate my HTTP instance using a different HTTP server type.
  • I would like to add or remove password protection to my site.
  • I would like to limit my HTTP instance to 1 thread.
  • I would like to keep access/error logs for my site.
  • I made changes to my iSeries Profile.  Now, I would like to recreate my HTTP instance based on these changes.
Start/Stop HTTP Instance
  • I created my HTTP instance.  Now, I would like to start it.
  • I recreated my HTTP instance.  Now, I would like to restart it so that changes take effect.
  • The HTTP server instance was ended.  I would like to restart it.
  • I would like to halt my site by ending the HTTP server instance.
Configure HTTP Instance Manually
  • I would like to manually add features to my HTTP server that are not available in the Create HTTP Instance Dialog.
  • I would like to compare my current HTTP directives to the recommended HTTP directives.
Launch HTTP Admin Pages
  • I would like to use IBM's browser-based interface for configuring and administering the HTTP server.
